Representational Art

Each plant’s grand size and intrinsic beauty emitted a sense of power and presence upon first glance. They captured my attention for long periods of time affording me the visual pleasure of intimate acquaintance with each nuance of their being.
The works here resulted in studies of movement through space, the articulation of form from multi-points of view, the dynamic/organic interplay of stem, leaf, and blossom.
These drawings are idealized versions of the actual plant and were composed from many onsite sketches and photographs manipulated to create each final composition.
